Common Reasons Chrome May Be Slow

  • Too many tabs open: Each open tab uses memory, which can slow down performance.

  • Chrome hasn’t been closed recently: Leaving Chrome running for long periods can lead to sluggish performance.

  • Your MacBook hasn’t been restarted: Restarting helps refresh system resources and clear temporary memory.

How to Improve Chrome’s Performance

1. Close Unused Tabs

  • Review your open tabs and close any that you’re not currently using.

  • Consider bookmarking tabs to revisit later if needed.

2. Quit and Reopen Chrome

  • Option 1: Right-click the Chrome icon in your Dock and select Quit.

  • Option 2: With Chrome open, click Chrome in the top-left menu bar and select Quit Google Chrome.

3. Restart Your MacBook

  1. Click the Apple menu () in the upper-left corner of your screen.

  2. Select Shut Down or Restart from the dropdown menu.

  3. Wait for your Mac to fully power off before turning it back on.
