Issue: 

Some laptops do not have the "Num Lock" option which, in turn, does not allow the use of "Alt Codes" to create accents on characters



Resolution:


Installing a Spanish (Spain) Keyboard will allow users to use the  " ' " (apostrophe) and vowel to create accents. To turn this feature on in windows, do the following:


(Note: Windows continues to release new OS updates, so the windows may look slightly different on you computer)


You will need to turn the keyboard to Spanish BEFORE starting your DigiExam



Installation:


1. Click the "Windows Start Menu" in the lower left corner of the screen



2. Click the "Settings" Icon



3. Click the "Time & Language"



4. Click the "Region & Language"



5. Select "Add A Language"



6. Search for  "Espanol (Spain)", highlight your selection and click "Next"




7. Unselect the "Set as my Windows display language" and unselect the "Speech" and "Handwriting" optional features, then click "Install". (We only need the keyboard)



8. The Installation will begin and the "Language Preference Menu" should appear in the Windows Taskbar. You may close the Settings window once the installation is complete.





Toggle Keyboard Settings:


Now that the keyboard is installed, we will go over how to switch between the two languages:


Option 1:


Select the Language Menu from the Windows Task Bar and select the appropriate language



Option 2:


Press the "Windows Key + Spacebar" key combination or the "Alt + Shift" key combination



or the "Alt + Shift" key combination


Note: You should see the language change on the task bar

1. Activate the Spanish keyboard



2. Press the left bracket "["

3. Press any vowel ( a,e,i,o,u)
